VIDEO PREMIERE: The Flowers 'Wore It Like I Stole It'

Sydney indie-pop quarter The Flowers, headed by Agnes O’Dwyer, earlier this month released their new single ‘Wore It Like I Stole It’. Today, Women In Pop premiere the music video, take a look below.

A smooth, guitar indie-pop track with vibes reminiscent of the ‘60s and ‘70s, O’Dwyer’s impressive vocals effortlessly soar over sublime melodies and harmonies which can switch from chilled and hypnotic to driving and urgent. Lyrically, the song explores how self-confidence is a emotion impossible to predict - you can be on top of the world one minute and crushed the next. “Don't cry, just show some self control,” ‘O’Dwyer sings.

“‘Wore It Like I Stole It’ is about keeping your guard up” O’Dwyer explains. “Being ‘guarded’ is often painted in a bad light. It's seen as cold and distant, but this song talks about how protecting your heart and keeping your walls up isn't always such a bad thing. The song is also about the process of growing your self confidence - how sometimes you feel like strutting your stuff and ‘wearing’ your confidence for the world to see and other times you're self conscious and overthinking."

As The Flowers grow from strength to strength, their hard work in 2020 will be showcased in their debut EP which is due to be released early next year.
