Vera Blue releases video for new single 'Lie To Me'
Vera Blue has released the music video for her latest single ‘Lie To Me’. A kaleidoscope of colour alongside classical architecture, the video was directed by Onil Kotian (Angus & Julia Stone, Baker Boy) with animation from visual artist Felipe Posada (Madonna, Walk The Moon).
“Due to Covid, we had to rethink the official video for Lie To Me as we were not able to get out and film,” Vera Blue says. “We had just created the amazing lyric video for the song and we approached Felipe and Onil to come back with an idea on how we could use what we had already created but bring it into a whole new world. I loved delving into new visual landscapes of colours, shapes, lighting and symbolism, and the idea of inventing an alternative reality that tells a story and captures the emotional roller coaster of falling in love again.”
Released in late August, ‘Lie To Me’ is the first track from the new era of Vera Blue. While her stunning debut album, 2018’s Perennial detailed the collapse of a relationship, ‘Lie To Me’ explores the anxieties within Vera Blue’s own head as she falls in love. Written and produced with long-time collaborators Andy & Thom Mak, the track is a addictive, electro-pop track and marks her first release since signing an American record deal with Republic Records. The song has already garnered 1 million global streams.
‘Lie To Me’ is a tantalising glimpse of the next phase in Vera Blue’s career and her new music is proving to be her best yet.
‘Lie To Me’ is out now across all platforms via Island Records Australia. You can listen here.
