Gamilaraay singer, songwriter, artist and next generation icon Thelma Plum today announces that she will release her eagerly anticipated second album I’m Sorry, Now Say It Back on 18 October.
The album is the follow up to her 2019 debut Better In Blak, which peaked at number 4 on the Australian album charts and was nominated for an impressive seven ARIA Awards. Written and recorded in Brisbane, Byron Bay, London, Sydney and Melbourne, the album has already seen the release of two singles - ‘We Don’t Talk About It’ with its shuffling, trip hop beat, and the cinematic high art of ‘Nobody’s Baby’.
Today Plum also releases the third single from the album ‘Freckles’. Co-written by Plum with Alex Burnett and Oli Horton, who also produced the track, ‘Freckles’ begins as a tender ballad before a steady beat is introduced giving the song a gentle pop-rock feel, with an addictive, repeated do-do-do vocal loop throughout. The song’s lyrics explore deep, unconditional love.
“‘Freckles’ is a love song about someone who truly sees all parts of you. To be loved in that way by someone is, to me, so incredibly wonderful,” Plum says.
One of the greatest artists to emerge from Australia in the past few years, Plum has quickly established herself as one of Australian music’s most powerful voices. With over 200 million global streams to her name and growing, her music is enchanting, empowering and never fails to move you. I’m Sorry, Now Say It Back is destined to become another huge success for Plum and undoubtedly one of the musical highlights of 2024.
