Rising star Cat Burns drops video for slow burning breakout hit 'Go'
The UK’s Cat Burns has had one of the biggest breakout hits of this year with the single ‘Go’ and she has now dropped the emotional, moving video.
Burns is a 21 year old LGBTI+ artist from Streatham, South London, who originally showed huge potential as a pro basketball player before she turned to music, with her first releases coming in 2016.
Originally released in 2020, ‘Go’ is a gorgeous, if heartbreaking, ballad about finding out your partner has cheated on you and your world collapses. “I'll sing it loud in case you don't already know / Pack up your shit and go.” The song has become one of the breakout hits of the year after Burns released multiple different versions of the song earlier this year, with a version to appeal to whatever your preferred genre is. It is a remarkably smart creative technique and has paid off in droves as this week she scored her first ever UK top 10 hit, with ‘Go’ now sitting at over 27 million global streams.
Tying in perfectly with her top 10 success, Burns also released the video for ‘Go’ this week. It is the perfect partner to the song, with Burns observing the heartbreaking collapse of various relationships. Watch it below.
Burns is a remarkable artist who has a charisma about her, and also a deep empathy to her artistry that knows we are all both unique and similar, and as such she not only tailors her music to all tastes, but ensures her lyrics are gender neutral so no-one is alienated by her stories.
With more music on the way including her new EP Emotionally Unavailable this year is shaping up to be Burns’ most successful yet.
‘Go’ is out now via RCA/Since 93/Sony Music. You can download and stream here.
