Breakout TikTok sensation Peach PRC today announces her signing to Republic Records and Island Records Australia with the release of her debut single ‘Josh’.
The self-proclaimed “girly camp pop” track is a joy from beginning to end, with razor sharp lyrics, super sweet melodies with touches of synthpop and hints of the 1990s. The track is inspired from a real life situation of an ex who just wouldn’t go away” ‘I thought you were blocked / Fuck off, stop calling me Josh,” she sings.
“I’ve been wanting to put out this song forever,” she reveals. “It’s very special to me, because it captured a real moment. I was a bit down when I was writing one day. My ex, Josh, kept calling me over and over again. He called all of the time, because he was trying to get back with me. I thought I had blocked him though. Since he didn’t stop bothering me, I wrote the song about him. It’s a true story, but it’s still meant to be fun and colourful.”
Peach PRC first started her TikTok page in 2019, posting funny moments, self-care advice and music. She currently has 1.2 million followers and a snippet of her first single ‘Blondes’ went viral in 2019 with the full version eventually amassing 4 million Spotify streams. The follow-up, 2020’s ‘Colourblind’ racked up 1.5 million Spotify streams, leading to her signing with a major record label.
To celebrate the release of ‘Josh’, Peach PRC will host a live streaming event today on TikTok, performing ‘Josh’ as well as playing fan favourites and answering live questions. The event will start on the Peach PRC TikTok page from 12pm AEDT.
