Australian singer-songwriter Lisa Mitchell returns today with the release of her new single ‘I Believe In Kindness’.

The song is a beautiful, mellow almost ethereal pop-folk track with an important message in the lyrics that encourages kindness, education and conversation as an alternative to the angry rhetoric that often defines disagreements. It has a beautiful throwback feel to the protest pop of the 1960s and 1970s.

“I wrote ‘I Believe in Kindness’ the day before the Global Climate Strike (2019) in Melbourne/Naarm,” Mitchell says. “Everyone was going. My body hummed with a feeling that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. The next day 100,000 people gathered, along with millions all over the world, in devotion to our Mother (earth). Elders spoke alongside school students and activists from many industries as they shared our needs for a safe future. It is terrifying that our governments’ policies are nowhere near good enough to protect our futures and care for Country. And yet, the feeling of being together that day still fuels my faith in humanity and reminds me of the power of a feeling.”

Mitchell today also announces her fourth studio album A Place To Fall Apart will be released on 22 April on vinyl and digitally. Produced by Tom Iansek (Emma Louise, Big Scary, #1Dads), the album features ‘I Believe In Kindness’ as well as Mitchell’s comeback single, 2021’s ‘Zombie’. The release of A Place To Fall Apart will also be accompanied by a tour across Australia from May to July.
