Idina Menzel releases single 'Dramatic' from upcoming dance album 'Drama Queen'

Superstar Idina Menzel has released new single ‘Dramatic’, the second taste of her upcoming dance pop album Drama Queen, due for release on August 18.

Written by Menzel with Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears and Jim Eliot, ‘Dramatic’ is a pulsing, shimmering electro-synth pop delight with the occasional bursts of disco that is guaranteed to make you move. It follows in the same vein as previous single, the funk disco ‘Move’.

Lyrically ‘Dramatic’ reclaims the term ‘dramatic’ as a positive, one that is born from passion, devotion and drive. “Let me be dramatic / I can be dramatic in a sea of static…If you get it, you get it / If you don't, you don't / And if you can't quite see it you never will,” she sings.

“‘Dramatic’ is one of my favorite songs off the album that I wrote with Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters and Jim Elliot. The song is about embracing all the different sides of who we are,” Menzel says.

Drama Queen is Menzel’s seventh studio album in a career that has spanned over 25 years and has seen her conquer everything from theatre to television to film, with her single ‘Let It Go’ from the Frozen soundtrack becoming a global phenomenon in 2013. Drama Queen will feature nine tracks and will be available as an autographed hot-pink 140 gram vinyl LP.
