Dagny returns with new single 'Brightsider'

Norwegian pop superstar Dagny today returns with her ebullient new single ‘Brightsider’. It is her first new solo music since her remarkable debut album Strangers / Lovers was released in 2020 - one of the musical highlights of that year.

Released on her own label Little Daggers Records, ‘Brightsider’ is a gorgeous blast of pure pop with indie undertones and it is hard to not get caught up in its infectious beat and feel good vibe. Dagny sings about both the joy and anxiety of the first weeks after falling for someone: “He started a fire / And he don't even know / That I only leave the house so he can walk me home.” It is the kind of song that fills you with joy and invokes images of driving with the top down screaming along to the song with pure elation.

"One of my strengths and best qualities is precisely that I can see the positive instead of digging myself down. ‘Brightsider’ became an outlet for this,” Dagny says.

Since she broke through in 2016 with the classic ‘Backbeat’, Dagny has been streamed over a billion times, earned six Norwegian Grammy's (Spellemannprisen) and co-written songs for Katy Perry, Ashnikko, and Julie Bergan. She has recently completed a sell out Norwegian tour, selling over 16,00 tickets, and will return to the stage on September 17 with a headline show in London, followed by dates in Berlin, Amsterdam and festivals through Norway.

"For me, playing live has always been the alpha and omega of being a musician," Dagny says. “Almost like the meaning of life, actually. I have been working on this song (and more new music!) and I'm so excited to bring it to the stage later this summer."

One of the truly great pop artists to emerge from the rapidly growing Norwegian music scene in the past 10 years, music from Dagny is always a delight. She has an innate talent to create stirringly great pop music that long remains in your heart, and with the promise of more music to come later this year 2022 is going to be another golden year for Dagny fans.
